Garnet Sand

Garnet Sand Manufacturer & Supplier

We are engaged in offering a broad array of high-quality Garnet Sand. Garnet sand is a mineral-free, iron-free substance with a wide range of applications. Its primary application as abrasive sand is in high-pressure water jet cutting. Many clients also use garnet sand to clean building exteriors or to sweep zinc-plated items. Garnet is a naturally occurring mineral, not a byproduct of a chemical reaction. It is inert, non-toxic, and virtually free of silica, preventing any risk of silicosis. Garnet produces very little dust.
Garnet Sand

Garnet sand is a silicate mineral deposit that occurs naturally. The more complex species of abrasive garnet, such as almandine, are utilized as abrasives and have a hardness of roughly 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale. Garnet sand is collected, washed, treated, and screened to the required abrasive grade before being used as an abrasive media

This makes it safe for the operator, does not contaminate the environment, and creates the least amount of disruption in the surrounding and adjoining as possible. As a result, occupational health authorities worldwide have approved the use of natural garnet as an abrasive. Furthermore, because garnet is an environmentally benign substance, it is gaining popularity among environmental rules for the following reasons::
  • Garnet does not contaminate the environment because it emits relatively little dust.
  • As a result, there is no known health risk.
  • When used offshore, it doesn’t pollute or dirty the seabed and doesn’t bother marine life.
  • Because of its high productivity, garnet is used less frequently, resulting in minor cleanup and disposal.
  • Garnet can be recycled multiple times and is a natural, non-toxic material, it does not pose the same disposal issues as other slag abrasives.

Uses of Garnet Sand

  • Garnet sand is a semi-precious stone used in non-skid surfaces.
    • In sandblasting, garnet sand is an excellent abrasive and a typical substitute for silica sand. The rounder alluvial garnet grains are better for blasting. Garnet is used to cutting steel and other materials in water jets when mixed with very high-pressure water. Garnet mined from hard rock is ideal for water jet cutting because it has a more angular shape and cuts more efficiently.
    • Cabinetmakers favor garnet sand for bare wood finishing.
    • Garnet sand is also utilized as a filtration material for drinking water.
    • Garnet is classified as blasting grade or water jet grade as an abrasive.
